This course is an introduction to using the statistical environment R for the analysis of cross-linguistic data. An introductory knowledge of the field of linguistic typology will be expected, but no experience with R will be expected.

Topics:

  • Using parallel texts to extract cross-linguistic data
  • Extracting parameters from dependency corpora
  • Finding universals in a typological database
  • Drawing semantic maps from cross-linguistic data

The registration is made at the same time as the registration for the annual conference.
